On March 29, 2026, a fire started in the attached garage of a home in Oakville, Missouri, at about 11:30 in the morning. Greg DeGreeff was off duty, next door, when it began.

DeGreeff worked as a firefighter with the Pattonville Fire Protection District. That day he was just a neighbor, standing in his own yard.

His three-year-old son noticed the smoke first. He ran to his father and said the house next door was on fire.

By the time DeGreeff reached the property, the garage was fully involved. Flames were already blocking the front of the house.

See this official SEC document? On page 146 Elon Musk revealed the name of a startup that Jeff believes will be…

Even though this has nothing to do with robots, self-driving cars, or rockets…

This startup is growing faster than Tesla… faster than SpaceX… and even 23 times faster than Nvidia.

That's why The Atlantic called it…

"The fastest-growing business in the history of capitalism." (Click here to get the name, 100% free of charge)

He knew his neighbor's wife had mobility issues. He did not see her outside with the rest of the family, and he knew someone would have to go in after her.

The front door was not an option. DeGreeff crashed through a fence to reach the back of the house.

He went inside without turnout gear, without an air pack, without any of the equipment his job normally gave him. Smoke and heat were already filling the rooms.

He found her inside. He walked her out through the smoke himself, before the first fire truck reached the scene.

Firefighters from the Mehlville Fire Protection District arrived and worked to contain the blaze. The house did not survive.

DeGreeff played down what he had done. "I didn't carry her out. I walked her out," he said. "It's just what we do."

Pattonville Fire Chief Jim Usry said DeGreeff's actions likely saved the woman's life. The department has recommended him for a Medal of Honor.

The garage and the house behind it can be rebuilt with insurance and time. What DeGreeff went in after could not have been replaced by either.

He did not have his gear that day. He had a job he had trained for and a fence he decided to go through anyway.

What are you trained for that you would still do without the equipment, without the backup, without anyone telling you to?
